To those having doubts or problems -- I downloaded the files and burned a bootable cd. I installed a spare HDD and booted the pc up with the XP disk ... installed XP with the key provided & once done, I opened IE and went straight to Windows Updates. The few updates since SP3 downloaded and installed w/o a hitch. I later went back -- downloaded & installed IE7. Absolutely no problem.
