Update: I've just tested on XP and it works great aswell, coz many services have the same name

(Altought this is mainly targeting Vista).
Also on this last update I've took a deeper look into the service's hive, disabling the dependants and dependencys of the stuff that was disabled before but did not appear in services.msc.

Original Post:
Well guys, been a while after I tried SpeedyVista V3 and tought It was fast... so I took a few of their mods into registry, added a few more and the result from it came here into my "Vista Optimizer.reg"
It works great for computers with or without SP1 installed.. 32 or 64bits... and I use on all my customers to optimize their vista, so I tought I would share with you all aswell
It works on any language (the services names are in Brazilian Portuguese just for you to know what they meant... Sorry but I did not took time to translate all names into english... but on most you can figure out what they mean

)
There's also a few command you could run at cmd as administrator to improve network performance (Thanks to Spoonz for sharing this tcp commands):
Code: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=enabled
netsh int tcp set global chimney=enabled
netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp
netsh int tcp set global rss=enable
(note: if you have a crappy router this settings can blow out your internet, however if it does, change the enabled to disabled and you will be fine again

)
by the end of this post, there's a link to test your connection.
And a few windows components at
Control Pannel/Programs/Add-Remove Windows Resources that you could remove to improve network drives browsing & file operations:
DFS Replication, Remote Differential Compression
(well there should be a typo there, I'm guessing what would be those names in english

).
After all, both "Diagnostic" services cannot be disabled via .reg, (Diagnostic Host and Directive Diagnostic Service) and should be disabled via services.msc (start/run/services.msc). Then if you want to "diagnose" your lan connection rather than just disabling/re-enabling the adapter, you will have to enable them again.
Also do not forget to check Energy Options in Control Pannel and see if your machine is at "High Performance"!
Reg can be downloaded below

Hope you all Enjoy it!
If you like it, please say thanks to keep the thread alive... and download this file as a free user!

Also.. Its highly recommended that you use a good antivirus with your windows! If you don't have one yet, check my Optimized Symantec Endpoint Protection (aka Norton Corporate)

bubba wrote: <img align="left" alt="" />disabled my restore, lol bit scary so i reverted back to previous My vista is fast enuff though thanks..
oh ya.. since I dont use my restore I disabled it
To disable the disabling of the disabler (lol) you can delete the following lines on the optimizer.reg:
Code: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\VSS]
"Start"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\swprv]
"Start"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\******oft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\explorer]
"NoPreviousVersionsPage"=dword:00000001
Or you can just change the values of Start from 4 to 2
(and nopreviousversionspage to 0)
This re-enables System Restore (or leave it untouched if you delete these specific lines from .reg)

blindmencanseegood wrote: <img align="left" alt="" />I would consider relooking at the TCP CMD Parameters. Microft themselves have said that there are problems with Chimney Offload and Global Chimney. Also another problem is using a cheap router. No matter how good Vista may or may not be it does send very large packets...so a cheap router not able to understand large packets bogs things down. Just a little help...I am using this configuration with no problem. But keep in mind that my router can handle very large packets and multiple connections.
netsh interface tcp set global chimney=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
Check your router with this tool from ******oft and it will tell you what you can handle. You must click on the EULA and it will redirect you to the compatibility tool.
Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool

Thanks for the heads up buddy! I'm using what I posted just fine aswell, but this will be a good cover for people with cheap routers

Again.. hope you all enjoy this as much as I do!!
